10 Years Strong & We're Getting Better and Better!

We're happy to announce the addition of some new highly qualified and educated instructors that are raising the bar for private music education in this area. Our newest drum instructor Jake Reed has returned to the triangle after getting his degree in Music education and a Master's degree in Composition from Ohio State University and has filled in for his mentor Frank Worrell. Robert Sledge (original bassist in Ben Folds Five) is teaching bass with us now and doing a heck of a job showing our students how the pros do it! Also new to CMS is jazz/pop/classical pianist Kevin Timmons, a recent UNC Jazz graduate with lots teaching experience. He also has been getting plenty of touring experience on the weekends with the nationally renowned Michael Jackson tribute band "Who's Bad". Drum whiz Stephen Coffman also plays for "Who's Bad" and is an honors graduate from the UNC Jazz department. These guys are real pros. Speaking of pros, Django Haskins (Yale grad) of "The Old Ceremony" is still going strong at CMS and has helped us recruit multi-instrumentalist Mark Simonsen (UNC grad) into the CMS fold. Mark is just incredible and brings more experience and formal education to our team than we have room to list here. In fact, if you live in N.C., there is a one-in-three chance that you have seen him perform whether you know it or not!

Also holding down the fort is our usual stable of pros. Among them are Danny Gotham (UNC grad, 'Guitar' magazine columnist and national Finger-picking champ with 30 years teaching experience), Mike Bisdee (Bachelors in Composition, Berklee & Masters in Jazz Composition and Arranging from UMASS, Amherst. 27 years teaching experience.), Eric Haugen (Berklee SOM grad), Joey Phillips (ECU Jazz grad), Kevin Brock (Nat'l touring drummer), Bart Urbanski (Multiple music Degrees), and Sara Zaleta (U. Conn grad) who is a lot of fun and has the distinction of being the triangle's only piano/vocal teaching equestrian expert that keeps a teacup poodle named 'Gussie' on her person at all times!

At CMS, we think music degrees and real, professional-level experience are important but for 10 years now, it's our instructors commitment to serving our students, their families and the community that set us apart from the competition. Just ask around and remember, whatever good things you hear about us, we're even better than that now!
